OUR WHY
MAKERS SOCIAL
DIY CRAFT & COCKTAIL BAR
Makers Social, located in the Franklinton Arts District in Columbus, Ohio, is an interactive bar experience where locals choose from dozens of awesome DIY crafting projects while enjoying themed cocktails like “Moscow Tools” and, you guessed it, “Screwdrivers”.
LOCALLY OWNED
(built from the ground up)
While studying fine arts at the University of Cincinnati, I experienced something truly special. We had massive studios, access to endless tools, and, most importantly, a tight-knit creative community. We’d grab a six-pack, head into the studio, and spend hours creating together (without a single phone screen in sight)—some were woodworking, others painting or sculpting. It was messy, collaborative, and deeply fulfilling. That environment shaped me, and I’ve always believed it shouldn’t be reserved just for “creatives”.
I wanted to bring that same creative connection and sense of community to everyone—whether you consider yourself “artsy” or not.
That’s why I created Makers Social: a DIY bar in Columbus with workbenches instead of booths, a menu of over 30 hands-on projects to choose from, and a full bar to keep the laughter flowing. It’s a place where people can unplug, connect, and build something real—together.
We opened our doors in February 2020… and just one month later, the world shut down. But even during a global pandemic, one thing remained clear: humans crave new life experiences and connection with others. So, we pivoted, we mailed out thousands of DIY craft kits to doorsteps, and through it all—we MADE it.
Today, we’re standing strong, proudly delivering on our mission: to create a space where people can laugh, make, and walk away feeling accomplished, connected, and a little more human.
Sincerely,
Meg
The Makers Spirit
At Makers Social, we fully embody the “Makers Spirit” because life (and crafting) is better when you’re Meaningful, Authentic, Kind, Expressive, Reaffirming, and a little Spontaneous. We believe in making more than just things—we make memories, connections, and the occasional mess (don’t worry, we’ve got aprons for that). Whether you’re hammering away at a new project or just here for the good vibes, our values remind us to create with heart, laugh often, and never take ourselves too seriously—except when it comes to power tools. Safety first!
